The MB dealer said that as this is a Warranty job it wouldn't be disclosed when selling the car as a used car, unless a customer asked to review the full service history.
So it will have NO impact on the residual value or on the part exchange value it we change it.

I've ordered a Mercedes E200 cabriolet with a 26% discount. On the road for £32065. AMG line with 19 inch alloys, Command, Electric seats, DAB radio, self parking, intelligent lighting, heated Seats, airscarf, leather, metallic paint. It arrives first week in July. Service agreement available for £30 a month for 4 years. I did look at a Morgan but struggled to get in and out of it, and the spec I wanted for a 4/4 would have been more than £40,000. I own an elderly ML and have been impressed with Mercedes service department. I don't use 'specialists'.

The problem with full resprays is the shuts and the windows surrounds. And unless panels are removed the new paint will not wrap around to the extent that it would on a new car.

So its admirable that Mercedes will pay and if the car is a keeper it doesn't matter but I'm not keen on the idea.

I've seen the car...

Bonnet, boot, front wings, doors and all plastic bits removed.
All trim removed, so I think the re-spray will be round the corners.

Probably why it takes 5 weeks and costs so much...

I got the deal from brokers. They supplied 5 quotes from main dealers. I've just heard that the car is in Zeebrugge and I hope to pick it up next week. The dealer is in The north and comfortably beat other quotes....which ranged from his £32065 to £37500. List price for my spec is £43000. It will require a train journey of 5 hours to get there as I'm based in Devon....but with special offers etc I can get a first class single fare for £80. Then hopefully a steady drive back. Insurance with protected NC is £196. I will take out a £30 a month service agreement over 4 years. Obviously included the 3 years warranty which appears pretty bombproof.

To be honest I've never been a great fan of Mercedes but the service Peter has received will mean we look seriously at one when Janet's car is replaced later this year.
Very impressed.
