Hello everybody
I own a 2002 Aero 8(55'000 km)

At the end of July, I face a severe problem with the power steering axle pump (between the engine and the hydraulic pump). I broke this axle and the support of the hydraulic pump.

This issue seems to be a known problem on the “first” Aeros and the best solution seems to replace this element by an electrically-driven pump system.

I try to order (trough an offical Morgan dealer) these parts to the factory but I still wait since July! No answer to fax and mail!

Is this always so hard to obtains parts from the factory?
Does anyone know about the origine of this electrical hydraulic pump (constructor?)?
Thank you for your help and your advise

Hello Chris

Have a word with Keith in the workshop at Brands Hatch Morgans. He may be able to help you with a solution that repairs/improves your original hydraulic system.

PM me if you need further info.

Cheers

Thank you Philippo for your quick answer.
I will contact him. I have to doublecheck, but I think that my car had all previous maintenance at Brands Hatch Morgans before it was imported in Switzerland!

Same problem with my S1 - electric pump fitted by BHM. This problem affects all early Aero's eventually and the perceived wisdom is to wait until the original fails. Mine lasted 40k miles! drive

Philippo / Orthodoc's responses are the ones I would give.

If BHM cannot supply the parts, I am sure we can suggest another route for you to acquire them quickly.

The original is a mechanical one connected directly trough a little axle in prolongation of the crankshaft in front of the engine(please excuse my poor English!. This system is too week (only a little silent block to amortize the high engine acceleration).
At the beginning you can hear strange noise when you turn completely the wheels. After the damaged axle broke completely and broke also the part (like a bell)on witch the hydraulic pump is fixed.
The new system seems to be electric and fixed to another place to the engine

Thank you for your messages. I feel less alone with my problem. I was also very suprised that the factory dind't answer to my mail and FAX. Is there a problem in Malvern Link?

Well, you're not alone on that either.
I needed some technical info a couple of weeks ago (regarding the camber on the front tires), never had a response on my mail.
A bit of a shame. nono

emailing the factory can be quite fruitless. Their SPAM filters are set to kill so it is better to call a direct contact, in my experience.
