Got sent this by a UK friend that knows I'm interested in this whole debate. Don't think it's been posted here before so here goes, as just another contribution. Bit boring because academic. This was 1974, when our German politicians were more highly educated and when they had still something to say. Regardless of the opinion Schmidt had, his performance was...quite good, and also a bit entertaining. Imagine Mrs. Merkel today in comparison...
