I am not on this page very often but I have received a handful of emails from people wanting to know how the box is holding up after my rebuild. The box is still holding up good. I have a full time oil temperature gauge mounted in the box to keep an eye on things. In 90+ degree heat the oil ( 90% Lucas Oil gear oil Stabilizer)gets to about 180 degrees after about an hour of driving at 65 - 70 MPH. I modified the lower tunnel panel to make an air intake to funnel air to the bevel box. This makes little to no difference when the air temp is above 90 degrees but with air temp around 80 degrees to reduces oil temp in the box by 5 to 10 degrees. I have removed the box from the car and serviced it every 1500 miles to check the condition of the oil and bearing preload. I recommend servicing the box OUT of the Morgan every time. The box should be flushed out and filled on a bench to make sure it is serviced properly.

Hi Bwitched
I have my bevel box out and is at a shop to get front seal done. Also will be looking to rebuild to better tolerances with new bearings.
Any advice or recommendations that might be useful??
Appreciate any comments

cheers

What’s the quickest method to get the Bevel Box out? Mines sounding like a pair of coconuts clonking together, it’s embarrassing.

Are you sure thats not the compensator, more than likely if you have the original design.

I have just called Quaife direct, to see if they offer a rebuild or service kit, they dont, and pointed me directly to Morgan.

I did get in touh with www.allonwhite.co.uk.co.uk
A replacement is £2225.06 including VAT (if they are available)

Has anyone else bought directly from Morgan?

Rog, the noise is directly behind me, when I changed the oil last month, I could feel the backlash, by rotating the prop by hand. I need to pull it out, and see if it will fix. The prospect of forking out thousands, for a replacement is leaving me with a sickening feeling.

For a recon I have known Morgan charge a fraction of that price.
Ask to speak to Mark Evans.

Yes at the focus group it was stated there there are two prices and part numbers. One for a new bevel box and one for a reconditioned unit.
