I am interested in purchasing a mid 90's +8 and I noticed the rear bumper attachment. I takes away from the looks of the car. Is there anything that can be done to make this look better? What if anything have others done about this? Love the car but not the rear bumper attachment! Thanks and have a good day!

There's always a solution John. First step would be to take the bumper off. You might prefer over-riders, I certainly do. But some prefer neither.
If you like the car you can sort it out later!

DaveW,
I am new to the Morgan world. Where should I go to find over-riders if want some. I do have a couple of ideas what to do about the rear bumper mounts and I thought someone might have already found a nice fix. Thanks for your info and have a good day!

John. If you're in the UK, then see your local dealer.

The later over-riders are based on the Healey Sprite rears.

The factory used to offer brackets to convert rear bumper to over-riders.

For a while, Morgans came with a full front bumper and over-riders at the rear.

They are Morris Minor overriders. The rear mounting is modified.

I have a pair and will upload a couple of photos over the weekend if that helps.

My advice for what it is worth is not to run without bumpers or overriders. Without them, even a small misjudgement by yourself (we all make the occasional mistake) or more likely another driver when parking or other close quarter manoeuvre will result in a very expensive repair to panelling as well as the ash frame.

What will appear to be negligible to another driver so they're likely to run away, will involve expense and aggravation.

I have a 1993 +8 that came into the US with the "shock absorber" type bumpers. However, the importer (Isis I believe) converted it to the classic UK style bumpers by welding metal (mine is aluminum) where the "shock absorber" type bumpers came through the fenders, painted it, and mounted the traditional type (lower) bumper mounts. I have since removed them, because I prefer the look without bumpers. Very easy to re-install if I ever sell the car.
