This 918 could easily done ten at a time.

And no sensible gap between any in the queue...
If they can't figure out overtaking they should at least drop back to allow others to do so...

But they don't want anybody to 'push in'.............
It's the queue mentality.

It drives me mad.

Oh We did once pass three combines on the Fosse. It was a long straight and early morning...................
They were quite a way apart as well. Good fun.

Agree with Dave - it's not the first car which makes the queue.

A few years back drove the A1 I think it was to Lisbon in Portugal. A three lane road, constant flow of slow traffic to overtake, but when you did everybody made a space for you to pull in. Different mentality to British drivers. And it seemed to work.

In my reckless youth, when we did weekend trips to the east coast, on the way back there was a never ending snake of cars. We used to pull out when the road was clear and just keep going until something came the other way. Then push in. It was rare to be flashed or hooted at. This was the early seventies.
On one famous occasion we had a 'wager' as to who could get home first. I had a Midget. My opponent had a Marina TC which he rated highly. Within a couple of miles of setting off from Scarborough I nailed him and never saw him again. I and my fearless passenger pressed on, most of the time on the wrong side of the road. About half way home a red dot appeared in the rear view mirror. It slowly gained on us. Eventually it passed us. It was an MGB..........which disappeared into the distance.
I was a loony in my early years but got away with it.
Whoever was in that MGB was a loony loony.
At the local pub they used to have wagers as to who could drive to London & back first, the evidence was the London evening newspaper.

All of this proves to me that my take on UK traffic on the road is that it's simply too full. I can remember as a teenager seeing who could get home in the wee small hours without braking. These days, even roundabouts have traffic lights on them!

Like Dave, I've had my fair share of high speed passes on the road but it's one of the reasons I enjoy my biking so much. It's simply a pleasure to overtake when you have grace, pace AND space...or maybe that was William Lyons..?

A good overtake is a thing of beauty, though. Swift & unobtrusive, it's the hallmark of a careful & thoughtful driver if done correctly. Done badly..? Need I say more.

Ray, there was a white 918 at a Pistonheads Sunday breakfast in Cross Hands earlier this year. Impressive machine!

I also remember when in my 4/4 near Sennybridge on A40 headed towards Brecon. A lime green car came up behind...recognised as an Ultima. Sounded mean...drowning my 4/4 sound. I speeded up to keep ahead until Brecon by-pass. He then obliged by overtaking! Wow! What a sound. I chatted to him on the Ultima thread on Pistonheads. He had been on an Ultima run. He liked the Morgan and thanked me for " getting a move on" til the by-pass!

There is a time and a place. This 918 took no risk ,just would make all Morgans look pedestrian.

We are at risk of sounding like old women on here. If you drive a car capable of accelerating quickly, then it's likely that you're going to get past any obstacles quickly. If some old duffer is driving slowly I'm not too bothered if my Murcielago gives him a bit of surprise when I whistle past him.

Driving like a loon is not something I condone. Driving quickly is something I enjoy.
