Hello all you fine people.
I have recently bought a '93 +8, but when driving the instrument dials fog up pretty bad. Anyone out there know of a solution other than to drive with the dashboard lights on all the time?

Fog in the dials?

Fine.

It means you have dials and the engine starts and warms up correctly.

It's the same in a 2008 roadster (and I guess in a 2009 too)


You have bought a genuine Morgan, not a fake one made in China.

This is not uncommon.

The more recent Morgan instruments have breather holes in the back of the instrument case - make sure these haven't become blocked.

For older dials that do not have these holes, some owners have drilled their own small holes to allow the condensation to escape. It goes without saying that if you drill the case that (A) be careful where you drill as you do not want to damage the internals and (B) ensure you do not drill a hole that is too large and therefore allows contaminants into the dial (a 3mm bit would be ideal).

Driving with the instruments lights on, all the time, can also help.

2007 Roadster too

You Guess correctly in 2009 but not too bad and clears early.

I managed to find enough clear plastic to cut four small circles for the auxiliary dials. It's the same stuff as you find in vinyl stickers, but without adhesive. You can't see it when fitted and it provides a bit more insulation so the misting is now much less.

I haven't sourced big enough pieces for the main dials though, but they rarely mist.......

BMW airhead GS motorcycles used to have this problem and one of the solutions was to drill a small hole and then seal it with Goretex but still enable any vapour to escape.
