Helle overyone.
I am new in the forum here.
Just bought a 4/4 from 1984.
The instrument light seems very weak. Tried to turn the reostat all the way up but alas?
And where is the battery???
Any good ideas?

Kind regards.

Michael

Probably best to replace instrument lights with LED versions if they really are too dim.
Battery, as someone else has posted is ahead of the rear axle under the parcel shelf.

Welcome to the forum! smile Have fun in your new car thumbs

Had a shock when I first saw your name - "Doc Dave" was our motorsport medic at Prescott Hill Climb for a good number of years until he retired. Then I realised no "e" on the end and you are in Denmark! smile

Welcome, does the dimmer actually do anything? Might be worth bypassing it to see if the lights are getting 'full juice' and if the lights improve. They aren't very bright from standard so don't expect them to be anything like modern led's.

If some lights are better than others, check their in their housing (I think in your model judging my the photos they just push in. They might have come loose.

Otherwise as Graham suggests change to LED.

My instrument lamps are fine.

The Bulbs could be past their sell by date and smutted up on the inside of the glass. Or even the wrong bulbs.

Corrosion on the instrument case metal eating some of the juice - take some scotchbrite to it.

Wiring seen better days

Pot chucking out to low a voltage.

What is the volts on the ciggy lighter with engine running should be about 14.5
