Our drive for 2571 meter above sea level
I had the friends of my 3 daughters out for a test run last weekend. Driving the Grossglockner Hochalpen Street was a good excuse to check their characters. We covered 1600km in 2 ½ days and experienced sunshine, frost, rain and storm on great roads. It was fun! The boys are OK. ;-) The 3rd picture with all 4 of us: the Edelweisspitze at 2571m. Frost in mid July... A link for Edelweisspitze: http://members.aon.at/edelweissspitze/englisch/frameset.htm

I can strongly recommend a trip to the Grossglockner on the Hochalpenstrasse. I drove it several times with cars and bikes and it is one of the highlights of motoring in Austria. On a sunny weekend the road may get a little bit crowded, than it is better to drive in the morning or in the evening. In spring and autumn you have to check if the road is open. In winter they close down because of many meters of snow. For me the nicer side for the uphill part is starting north, driving from "Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse" direction "Heiligenblut". The opposite direction is maybe more scenic but less interesting for driving. (my personal opinion) I would but Alis suffers from vertigo and would probably spend most of the time either crouched in the footwell or beating me over the head to turn back

Thank you, Peter! (Poor Alis! Vertigo does not support enjoying the passo Stelvio and a lot of other fine roads in your region either...) ---- The software bug striked again. It changed the introduction picture: a white/blue car that has nothing to do with my trip..

I was a bit worried something like that might happen when I tried to make an attachment to my post using the file manager. I know inserting an image in a gallery forum can create this problem, it looks as though attaching a file to a post with the file manager can cause the problem too.
If this is the case the File Manager link probably needs to be removed too.

Peter, don't mind. A lot of people opened the pictures and hopefully enjoyed some of the information. Nothing important if the pictures or the opening foto gets mixed up. Hopefully I will have further interesting trips. Than I know how to comment the pictures...

Spectacular: I did a ski vacation using Innsbruck as our base. Lovely country and a Morgan delight.
