The brown area? That's where the solid mount would be on a rigidly mounted bevel box, before it's been ground off to have the NVH kit fitted.

Still too much V then, even with the NVH kit fitted?!

Another thing to check! That NVH "girder" is a big, heavy duty lump to fracture like that. Thanks for the info.

Would I be right in saying that cars prior to NVH kit just had the pinion carrier bolted to chassis with vertical bolts through the mounting lugs?

I mention this because post NVH versions appear to have the same mounting lugs cross drilled to allow horizontal bolts as well as shown below, in this case attached to NVH forward arm.

Will there be any traders at thrill on the hill, selling second hand bevel boxes?

Gents,
I have been driving my 2012 3W since November last year. So far the bevel box has been more than good (it has just 3900 miles on the clock), with noticeable noise only above 60 MHP which I rarely reach. Last saturday I drove the beast for about 90 miles in the hot Italian summer, it was the first "long" drive in hot weather since I have it. Since then the noise starts at 40 MHP, should I think the oil has been "fried" last weekend?
The Bevel Box has been serviced about 800 miles ago, the oil should be still efficient. Any idea ?
