I know this may sound strange, but my wife absolutely HATES the look of the M3W luggage rack. Is there some kind of removable option that someone has come up with, or a soft bag that could be affixed over the rear?

Thanks in advance for any help.

get a custom hitch made and pull a small trailer!

Make the trailer look like your towing a big 500lbs bomb

other trailer options

Do not fix anything directly to the beetleback of your 5speeder.
The vibrations during the drive will cause rubbing and damage the surface of your M3W. The curved back is not designed to carry much weight. That are some reasons to use a luggage rack. Get some vintage carrying cases that fit the style of your Moggy and it looks fine.

Put a holdall bag down in the passenger footwell. There is plenty of space for one and still room for the passengers feet. Travel light.

The problem with a custom hitch is that it should mount to the frame to avoid stressing the "ash" framed rear body section. The frame stops up by the fuel tanks and I have not yet come up with a good solution. I have an unused Unigo one wheel trailer that would be perfect for towing camping gear.

The M3W luggage rack is removable. It has to be in order to open the rear boot. I personally like the look and to cap it off I usually carry a golf umbrella strapped across it. I did modify the system used to attach it to the roll bars since the ones I used are removable and they are black as well.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

My tall Karrimor rucksack fits neatly down the passenger footwell, keeping it out of the rain.

I spotted a three wheeler on M6 he had two bags hanging on the outside of the cabin. Within the wheelbase looked ok .
