Does that bearing upgrade work for older trads madmax? I used to have so much trouble with heavy steering I pulled the tendons in my shoulder. This year I have been doing upper body workouts to build strength to make life easier.

Lovely this is the sort of info im after  to be naïve is that an upgrade or something fitted from a certain year. This does all seem to be pushing me to the 4/4 which is where I think my heart is anyway to be honest.

Welcome here, we are almost in same situation except i have drive several different Morgan, spend a countless time for choose my color scheme, and already buy mine (not yet pick it)
My advice will be don't rush on the fist one you see and drive, choose a Morgan is more complicated than choose a wife/GF do you big boobs or tiny ass big brain or carpet and so on , unless you are ready to divorce wit your MOG better to be cautious in the selection and be picky otherwise you will blame her often ...
They are not normal car, it's a passion car, with lot of un-perfect point ...
at least that's my point of view, so take it as you wish

Post 97 gets you long door ( a little easier to get in to with the hood up)
An easy up/Simmonds/Allon White hood makes life sooooo much easier when it rains.
Folding and reclining seats allow you huge adjustment over fixed back seats.
Budget for £25k to get something modern (!!!) enough to make every day driving do-able.
There are plenty of cars out there that people have spent lots on and then moved on to something else. Sadly it costs £££ to get on the band wagon but once there they hold their value really well.
There are lots of experts on here who will be more than happy to give assistance, as there are in the Morgan world generally.
Sit in/drive as many as you can.
Thrill on the hill is on this weekend, a wander round the paddock will allow you to see every possible permutation of every model. It should certainly help the decision making process.

One big thing I noticed on my first drives in Morgans was the mulfab bearing upgrade cars were heaven , the others were a nightmare as the steering was soooo heavy especially round rounderbouts ! electric power steering is the answer

Drove a really nice supercharged plus 4 at Allon Whites a few years ago and could hardly get round a rounderbout as the steering was so heavy , then drove another trad and it was totally different - it had a mulfab front bearing upgrade , you don't need power steering !

Hi Sailing Tom,
My advice would be to go to a dealer and try his demo cars, 4/4 and +4 (even the roadster for fun).
If I was buying again I would go for a 2.0 Duratec (pre 2014) as that car has a brilliant engine.
The 4/4 sigma (as late as you can afford) is also a brilliant car.
As people have already mentioned, when you drive it you will know!!

The earlier cars have less castor and may be prone to a tremor that is felt at the steering wheel.
