Congratulations on the new car and welcome to TalkMorgan As the owner of two 2-seaters (both a 'bit' older than yours) I'm afraid I can't help much. 4 seater batteries used to be in front of the bulkhead, left or right, depending on vehicle age. But, you've obviously looked there. I wonder if it has moved to under the rear seats if a small one? Cheers,

The sneaky Morgan people hide the battery under the rear seat, which side depends upon the exhaust position, so if like mine the exhaust is on the left of the car the battery is on the right, generally the battery is of average size and it sits on a bit of floorboard between the spring and the diff held down by a couple of rods and nuts.
A 2008 should not need the battery looking at for a few years but fitting a battery condition meter is a good idea, best to use the car at least weekly and keep it in a nice dry garage.

Welcome to the forum Dogmog If you take the carpet right out of the area behind the seats (4 Poppers two at the very back and two near the floor behind the seats - move the seats forward. You will find the tool rack on the top surface. In the upright part behind the seats you will find an access hole covered with an aluminum plate. (difficult to access but should not need attention to unless it has been completely discharged) The battery is behind there. It is normal size and originals seem to be RED in colour (lay a mirror under the back axle and you should see the bottom of the battery) Invest in a Ctek ( www.ctek.com) battery conditioner (Dealer or internet) about £35 and plug into the cigarette lighter port. Leave plugged in if low use / low mileage user. Can be left in for months as it is self monitoring and controlling.

Second the Cetek - model is 3600 and can be plugged in via the "cigarette lighter" socket in the glove box, or a separate connection hard wired in (a quik-disconnect fitting is provided with the Cetek unit).
My battery is an Odyssey 960 (I think) and has been in the car since new (built late 2004) - mine is under the bonnet however so less likely to be affected by moisture. Despite being not used for over a year by the previous owner it is in perfect order.

On my 97 model I use Cetek as well. The battery is from Halfords though.

Thanks everyone for your replies unfortunately the battery is totally flat. Looking at your replies I think first off I will invest in charger that can be plugged into the cigarette socket first rather than dismantling the rear of the car and see if that does it. Under the rear seat was one of the first places I looked but every thing was screwed down, I should have know better. Many thanks again for help. Steve

You access the battery from underneath the car. During the winter I use a maintenance charger in the cigar lighter socket.

If you're going to have to change the battery, you could also add a charger connection lead at the same time. I'm not too keen on using the cigarette lighter - the fit of plug into socket frequently is not too good. Cheers,

The PO fitted a Cetek umbilical to my Roadster which exits the rear axle-well behind the passenger seat near the spring hanger, and lies under the carpet when not connected. Unfortunately the Cetek charger didn't come with the car, but I already had a battery management unit in stock, so all I had to do was make up a male plug to fit the female plug on the car. It's been on a week, as I speak, and the compensating light is off, so it's fully charged. I used to charge the MGB through the ciggy lighter, but agree with Graham - take care because it's a slack fit, and can easily blow the fuse.
PS - long winter lay ups with the MG, used to result in evaporation of the electrolyte, which fell noticeably, showing the tops of the plates in the end cells, so I checked it every month or so through the winter. I topped it up from the de-humidifier............
