I took the dash off and checked the printed circuits of the dash module nothing untoward apparent.
Contacted Perranwell this morning and no easy answers.
Took the car down and the current thinking is the control box on the inside of the bulkhead. (dreaded black box again)
This is likely to be an expensive poor fibre indicator disc.

Good news from Perranwell. They have identified the circuit that has blown sent it to their local sparky who repaired it!
Doesn't it give you a good feeling.

I have now used a small chrome on brass cup washer. I split one side with tin snips twisted onto the wire and pressed onto the contact.
This stops the contact pulling through and the fibre pad dishing. It also gives a better contact area.
Why don't they make them better in thefirst place?
