When they ship cars do they automatically disconnect the battery?? Check with them, if so as spanner juggler mentions the ecu/immobiliser may have "lost" its memory,

Does the engine turn over? If so unlikely to be immobiliser circuit.
If not check out the ring sensor that sits on the ignition barrel, make sure it somehow has not come dislodged.
If it does turn over use a can of quick start in the air intake past the filter.

Spark, Air, Fuel or Compression... If it's turning over, it's got to be one of the above hasn't it? Fuel pump relay? Fuel pump not delivering the right pressure? Saw this : https://youtu.be/cLhM4aNafd8

Colin - yes I know that timing is unlikely but I would also double check it along with fuel and spark. You can't rule out "interference".......

That was my thought but I do not know if the engine would still turn over when the ring sensor it not picking up the signal from the key. Could be a broken wire or bad contact in the sensor wiring too.

Again, many thanks to all who have replied. To clarify and reiterate: the engine turns over nicely;the pump does not come one when turning on the ignition (the pump is not broken as I can get it to operate via jumping);all fuses and connections are clean and intact, and resetting and/or jumping the ineria switch did not fix the problem. I would think that there would be pressure in the fuel rail because I operated the pump by jumping it, so it doesn't imply the pump was activated by the ignition, and by extension, the fuel pump relay may not be functional. The shippers did not disconnnect the battery to my knowledge. The battery was a bit weak on arrival, perhaps because the shipper had made so many attempts to start the car, but nonetheless the engine turned over reasonably on arrival.
As was mentioned earlier, I am wondering now if the multifunction relay is bad as it seems as if that would explain the lack of power to the pump with ignition, the lack of starting with the pumped jumped and providing fuel, and the inability to communicate with the ECU?

This is the relay from Lucas SRB501 I always carry a spare. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1541-Jaguar-XKE-Lucas-SRB501-Replacement-Fan-Relay-/221138177474Cheaper and it provides you with the Bosch and Hella equivalent numbers. http://autoelectricalpartsuk.co.uk/products/Relays,_Solenoids_and_Flasher_Units/12V_Change-Over_Relays/Durite_12V_Mini_Change-Over_Relay_072812.html

http://www.totalparts.co.uk/search/for/bosch+relay/This is the fuel pump relay - the one above (previous post) is the fan control relay and it's worth carrying a spare of each.

The relay I am now thinking may be bad is the multi-function relay module (part YWB100820L) as it not only controls the pump but powers the ECU. I am not sure, but I don't think the above relay is part of my car's system.
