I always ran at 22 psi. don't forget the tyres are an integral of the suspension, much more so than modern cars.

I run on 24psi which seems best for mine. Interesting in what you say about using the 185's - do you get better grip? My impression: the car drives more solid on the road with better road holding at twisty streets, also in the wet. And I like the look. Vredestein classics! Thanks for that, that's interesting.

One more thing: the 185/70 fit the original rims and are only slightly smaller in diameter than the standard 165/80. Much easier to find 185/65 dimensions but those provide less road clearance.
