I thought it about time I said hello, having been a +4 owner for a couple of months now, and having already made good use of some of the incredibly helpful stuff found on the Forum – so thanks for that everyone!
After visiting the MSCC stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2008, it triggered me into trying to find a suitable new toy, and one eventually came along in August this year in the form of a 1999 +4 when a gentleman from Essex responded to my ‘wanted’ ad in Miscellany.
He’d owned the car from new, had only covered 8000 miles, and had never been out in the rain in it, but unfortunately ill-health caused him to part company with his pride and joy.
Consequently the car was near pristine, and priced considerably cheaper than any agent would be asking, so the deal was done!
Work I’ve done so far includes: New Avo shocks – and what a difference they’ve made!; Experimented with a perspex windstop, but have opted for the Simmonds one in the end; Made my own bonnet stays; Fitted some wind wings (bought from DaveW - thanks Dave); and in an act of pure vanity, put my personal plate on the car.
Most importantly, the good lady Christine thoroughly enjoys our little trundles. Even after a 250 mile round trip to Wells in Norfolk when we came home in the dark, roof down, heater on, she also had a silly grin on her face. So we’re looking forward to getting out and about in it again, but probably only when the weather’s better! (Call me a wimp, but I fear the Morgan, along with the golf clubs, won’t be taken out of he garage now until March!).
Anyway, that’s enough of the rambling,
Sid
