Quite a thought provoking topic......
BUT.....who carries a net to catch fish?
Surely an essential for any TMer ?
A fishknife to take to restaurants as fewer seem to have them.....
A large bottle/flue brush to clean tailpipe......OCD item.
Toothbrush to clean flies off teeth.
Magneticsticky tray towed behind to catch bits that fall off
No gaffer tape...I used to have a roll of blue but used it up.........

Ok...my essentials are
Toolroll with few spanners, couple of screwdrivers, knife, cheap (almost disposable) small socket set, spare wiperblade, cable ties, fuses, bulbs, insulating tape, reel of wire and couple of connectors ( added recently after another accompanying car needed a by pass wire to get going) camping towel(packs small), couple of microfibre cloths, wetwipes, collapsable umbrella, small first aid kit. I took the fire extinguisher out but may refit it.
All this fits mainly under passenger seat or door pickets.
On long trips also storm cover, fault code reader, ratchet type straps (luggage use), kevlar gloves for tyre change ( never used yet !).

Unfortunately, a large towel has taken residence under one seat, and a loose cover under the other seat.
So, I am in dire need of one of Dave W's new replacement under-parcel shelf cubby holes to get all of this lot in.
And I was naive to think that the thread would be all about fuses, relays and bulbs...

That reminded me I always carry a few pairs of disposable gloves for when I grease the suspension when abroad.

Pride of ownership indeed!

I'm rather hoping one of my three travelling companions will grease mine when I'm on our trip to Caramulo.......

If you had a remote greasing kit you wouldn't need the gloves!!!!!!!

Three cars together, one gun is enough, work it out.

No matter what might go wrong with the car I'm confident that I won't be able to fix it. Hence I'm another who's list starts and finishes with a mobile phone.

I once managed to ride a motorbike to the Pyramids and back with this philosophy and it served me well, whereas I encountered a German biker in Luxor who was carrying so many spares and tools (including wheel and complete clutch) that the weight of all these bits 'n pieces broke the frame of the bike when flying over a sand dune. How I chuckled. (Can't see myself pottering through Syria again any time soon - I hear it's a bit of a pickle down there these days.)
