when using a hole saw to open up the baffles, I've been told to use a very slow turning speed of the hole saw to cut open the baffles. if you do it at a fast speed the baffle metal hardens and the hole saw dulls up very fast.

Has anyone removed just the front baffles? If so, is the car too noisy now?

Thanks

Presume it's a cut and reweld job ?
Does one remove the baffles or just cut a hole in them?

You remove them with a hole saw.

No cut and rewelding involved...

I took mine out 2 years ago, I used a 38mm hole saw in a cordless drill with plenty of lube on the cutter.

Having heard Mol & Squirrel's DIY cat-less/baffle-less set up and my stage 1 kit next to each other, they are very similar in sound but the stage 1 kit has deeper bass in the exhaust note. They both sound great IMO; I prefer the Stage 1 exhaust note but the hole saw method is much cheaper and you get to retain your original heat shields without the added cost of the new brackets, heat-shields and having to drill another hold in the side of the Mog.
