After 7538 miles, I've averaged 31.11 Imperial MPG. Best 37.3, worst 24.5 (at Goodwood last year...). Pretty good for a 1930's motor car I think wink

I find the gauge seems to give on average a lower reading whilst driving but recovers to a higher one after a rest or next occasion car is used. This could be explained by the fact there are two tanks with balance pipe. Fuel thrown into the left hand one by cornering forces one will obviously lower the reading from the right. Add in the damping on the display and you have an answer.

Mine just went down to zero. Only took 5 gallons. Just can't figure out why she's gotten less accurate since I installed the 280 3,000 miles ago.

Haven't got car or ruler handy, but is it possible to fit a longer sender than he 280mm one?

The next higher length in the VDO range seems to be 310mm measured from end of tube to flange interface - part # 224011000310G for anyone interested.

a) it's a Morgan
b) similar milage since installation, similar change of reading..
c) I don't care any more, I just refill (and I have some spare petrol on board)

Try checking the electrical terminals on the sender for good contacts?

First change on my 2012 was to install the 280mm fuel gauge. Cheap for a new one and about 45 minutes to install. Big improvement.

Connections are fine. I'm perplexed and disappointed. She hits 0% after only about 100-120 miles (4-4.5 gallons). No idea what's going on. After I first installed the 280mm sender 100 miles would have it reading 50%. So strange.
