thanks for your clear explanation, when the time will be there i will go differently as i like when i made a mod it look like factory made i will cut an iron piece and weld it (and of course rechrome) to the windshield support just down to the folding fixation, after that i have not yet fix the mirror i will use, because the one he use in "Romania" it's a moto one , that mean not easy to fold (for parking & storage purpose) also if you are green light and a bike/moto/scooter not so easy to reput the mirror at the same place.

i have see some clip on side mirror if i can strip the side clip i am almost sure it can do the trick, if not i will sand cast a small part and go with M3W mirror , but i think they are too short

BTW, your idea to upgrade you engine is not so impossible, in an other life we did it with Porsche engine and also with a Jag, but it's in a different ERA where doesn't have so many electronics that's the first

the second is you should have strong mechanic base, and almost don't rely on any garage for do it otherwise it will be costly and probably disappointing

if your car have something really special go ahead but be ready to shake your head against the wall

In answer to the poster, I think you have to be very careful with what you do, I'll certainly be changing lights on mine as can be seen in the gallery but they are still the same mounting so can always be put back in 5 minutes as appreciate not everyone will like them. Would I cut holes in the body to fit ones a different shape? No Way! Mine were changed purely for increased output. I'll be reducing the chrome on my car aswell as not a huge fan of it personally but again it can all be put back on in a day as has all been kept. Doing permanent changes has to be well justified in my opinion and risks it looking like a kit car if done badly with big expense to correct.

If you have found some alternatives to the very poor quality indicators and brake/tail lights I would love to know the details.

Only LED bulbs so far but am trying to get some measurements for a stop light led unit

Tom drill a hole it's exactly the same as paint the grille or the front light border, but in one point you are right try to mod a car without complete picture it's hugely risky. My question more for understand than any other reason.

i don't need agreement from someone for do what i want with my car, if the extreme traditionalist don't like it's none of my business and every change can be turned back in case your car is hard to resold

Think that's the key as long as it can be put back easily no harm then and as you rightly point out its only yourself you have to please.
ps. im using rubber paint which you can pull off and lasts about 2-3 years then you reapply. so a bit easier to put back than a screw hole

With the number of these lights that are used on a wide variety of vehicles it is truely astonishing that LED alternative for the 83mm lamps are not available.

I have not measured it but I think the snorkle stop light may be 73mm
