I'm doing sporting bears dream rides at Car fest North today, did 5 runs out and bang, lost the power steering.
Graunching noise on lock, (which has stopped now) followed by the steering being very heavy and the underside of the whole car being covered in fluid!😡
Oakmere are here so they will take a look in the am, but recovery the 100+ miles home becons.

No doubt the dreaded power steering failure, not happended to me yet but plenty of posts some years ago on this. The factory was providing an alternative replacement for this, Mini based electically driven hydrolics. I am interested to see what solution is available today.

First ride today was a woman who started by saying "you over took us on the way here".... "Sorry?" I hope you weren't blowing your horn and making rude gestures at the time. That would have been really embarrassing 😳 It is one of the problems of having a recognisable car and I sometimes have to remind myself not to drive too, let us say, flamboyantly near my home town.

Sorry to hear that Mark. I was told switching to Mini Cooper S power steering pump was best long term option. I think it's mounted in the n/s wing with the oil filter.
Hope you get it fixed soon.
