The Series 2 went in for MOT yesterday. It had been making a few creaky noises from the back end. It passed the MOT but I got a couple of advisories back.

Several of the rear suspension rose joints appear to have reached end of life and need replacement. I get the feeling this is going to be a little expensive.

Does anyone have experience of this ?
I think it is also wise to fit new shock absorbers at the same time, does anyone have recommendations for good model road shock absorbers ?

Ohlins seem to be regarded as the best in many circles.. Not cheap though. Could probably make a big difference to handling though a fully adjustable set up...

About to take the plunge on a full suspension setup on the on my 911 hot rod project £££ but pretty sure it will be worth it...

Alistair. Demon Tweeks sell a range of rose joints and is an option if you can match them up. Check their site.

do you lubricate rose joints with ( say) waterproof grease or do you leave them dry to avoid attracting the dirt as the grease will do

Reading around the "interweb" it seems that most are sold as maintenance free, but some are built with ball bearings and require lubrication.

Some are fitted with protective covers, others not.

I've no idea what MMC use.... banghead... probably the cheapest they could find.... hide
