That's quite a poignant thought

It would be improbable that any of the drivers would be alive today surely

If they were as young as in their 20's then (most certainly look older) they would be in their 90's now

The fact the film is in colour is rather deceptive - it's like watching one of my dads cine films from the late 60's

Remarkable really

That's a nice period piece - just imagine the millions of £'s worth there is on that hill by todays values. They look such cumbersome beasts for the most part but with beautiful lines to the body.

A lot easier on the eye than watching the McClarens and Veyrons booting it up the hill at Goodwood.

Lovely... Strange to think most of those chaps will have only recently returned from war.

They really had to wrestle those massive steering wheels around the bends.

Marvellous! I must dig my tweed jacket out from the back of the wardrobe.

Indeed, very recently. Someone in the comments has identified it as the VSCC meeting of 31st August 1946.

Great footage and great that's it's in colour. (Just a slight niggle that they've got the aspect ratio wrong on the upload which has stretched everything width ways).

Flat caps , pipes , wide trousers , flannels , moustaches , beautiful cars , this could all be done today ie 'Retro hill climb weekend period gear only ' maybe we should organise a TM weekend like this ?
