I'm new to this forum (which I don't think existed when my 1980 Plus 8 was taken off the road after 240,000 miles.) That was in 1996 and it has been part of the longest restoration known to man. I've now retired so things are hotting up.
I got the alloy bumpers out of the garden shed recently and pressure washed them, but they have a few dents and one has a twist. Does anyone know of a reliable firm that might be able to refurbish them? I'm in the Midlands but happy to travel.

A fellow Morgan owner has asked chroming companies at many recent trade shows about getting his bumpers rechromed, drawn a blank I'm being seem keen which is surprising given that Birmingham is the city of a thousand trades or at least it used to be.
Maybe JTL's ones for sale maybe the easier way to go.

The alloy bumpers came in two widths so the ones up for sale are probably too small.

Melvyn Rutter used to provide a refurb service.

Despite being aluminium, probably because they are a pressing, they are difficult to straighten.

The bumpers are 4ft - 7 1/4 inches from tip to tip.
As for chroming such a large alloy item it need 3mm of copper first . Very few will do it , I did make a blunder with a firm in the South a few years ago spoke to the father in Jan told a couple of months waiting list . So sent off a set. Kept giving a call after that time to be given excuse after excuse by the son who had taken over after almost a year his attitude had become nasty as he f/ed etc at me along with being ignorant and a large price rise. He was told to send them back and he did FOC. I still remember that firm. I keep lists of firms I can trust for certain jobs as they are harder to find.

Are you sure you mean 3mm and not 3 thou, JTL? I didn't think it was even possible to get that depth using electroplating techniques?

Thanks for all the replies. Mine are 5ft 1 in (155cm) end to end so JTL's won't do, alas.
I will keep on looking. There is a chroming firm well down south that say they can straighten bumpers using press tools prior to chroming but have not spoken to them yet.I don't particularly want them chromed - just straight.

Once straight, it is relatively easy to find a firm that will anodise the bumpers as originally finished.

Alternatively, it's cheaper and easier to sptray paint them. It makes stonechips and similar damage easy to repair.
