I'm looking at a 1989 propane powered 4 Roadster converted by Isis importer back in the day. It's a very clean car stored inside with has less than 4,000 miles on it. Besides all the seals leaking from sitting would this be a good car to have. I think I can pick it up for around $30k US.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Timothy

button on here has converted a car back from LPG to petrol.
If it has sat for a long time & the mileage would suggest that then it needs a thorough review for seals etc.

This might help

Timothy, I would think it would be a great car, only if converted back to gasoline. I had a propane 4/4 for 35 years but it is now on gasoline. On propane, it will only be good around town. If you have visions of travels out of town, you will need to convert it to gasoline.

Having converted three Plus 8 and a 4/4. The conversion is not hard (nor all that expensive) but is better done with a lift (to get the propane tank out from below). 4k Miles on Propane is break in mileage.

Cheers,

Mark

I also should add that it is an all steel body no alloy. Would that make a difference, plus or minus? The weight savings is what 100 LB with the alloy?

Thanks again,
Timothy

Timothy, In my opinion it wouldn't matter. Other than current rust, having had a steel body should not matter. If there is no current rust, it should be fine going forward. I wouldn't worry about the relative weight, as the weight savings that will come from jettisoning the propane stuff is huge!! More if you remove the some of the regulatory stuff like the high bumpers with shock absorbers, etc. All this will easily eclipse the added weight of the steel.

Cheers,

Mark

Sounds good at the price Tim.

One advantage of the steel wings over aluminium is they are far less likely to suffer starring from picked up stones in the tyres.

Good Luck.
