Congrats, James! Doesn't Dennis own one of the polished alum M3W's here in the states?
I hope the team there at MogWest figured out a solution for the crack-prone exhaust pipes...if not, I'd say look seriously into fitting other exhausts until the solution is found! I've heard tell that those Brooklands exhausts are now few and far between.

Happy motoring!

Thanks everyone.

Heard that my M3W was loaded onto an enclosed transport today. I expected it to take 1-2 weeks to get here, given the large number of car shows and auctions in California at the moment. But, the estimate is 3-4 days. Excellent. May not be exact, but better than 1-2 weeks.

Dennis does own a polished Brooklands, but does not have a fix...and has a pile of Brooklands exhausts outside his shop.

Dennis said that there is a new(er) version of the exhaust coming soon from the factory. (Not sure what "soon" means to MMC.) But the only way to get one is to have a failure. Won't be given to you out of the goodness of MMC's heart. His advice -- drive it as much as I can and see if I can create a failure. If I can't -- great. If I can, then it can be patched for the time being, then get on the list for the newer design.

However, he also noted that he felt the problem with many of the earlier exhausts was that the factory ground and polished the welds, thus weakening them leading to cracks. He said that the ones on mine were left alone and may not have quite the issues of the earlier ones. But, if an update is in the works, it's not a final solution.

A friend down the street is a welder who may be getting business from me. Will see.
