The boot liner is standard. Personally I would always recommend fitting an internal mudguard as well. It's amazing what a state things get into under the boot liner without it, especially if you ever drive on wet & muddy lanes. drive

In particular:

Check the Fuel Hose clamps on the Throttle Body hoses.

I believe these are now improved from the original design so should be OK.

Make a PVC cover for the vent hole in the steering rack.

Probably not required - maybe a squirt of ACF-50 at some time.

Paint the bare metal part behind the engine where the steering column and steering rack join.

ACF-50

Plug the hole in the compensator housing.

Don't bother! It may not even still be there with the current standard Centra unit.

Weatherproof the area behind the seats.

New cars should now have a rubber seal between the aluminium seat back and the body which will help. if it gets wet it will dry out and then worry about further waterproofing

Paint the inner front fenders with chip-proof paint.

It won't do any harm but mine are still OK unprotected after 10,000 miles

Replace the long bolt that prevents the easy removal of the steering wheel.

thumbs

Enjoy looking at it and driving it first - you've certainly waited long enough!

This, +1.

I'm one to savor my pleasures..especially those I've anticipated... and not ruin it with the nits. There's time enough for that when they crop up.

I did indulge in a detail...I like to rub the things that excite me...and a coat of Leather Honey. And, a Moto Lita 15" 4 spoke wood wheel install and Uncle Mel's engine turned dash panels.

Enjoy your car...you especially, given the amount of agita you've been thru!

Also, if we're talking single malt,....the perfect congratulatory beverage...might I suggest something far less iodine like Balvenie Double Wood?

I think I've "broken in" every car I've ever owned. The M3W? I imagine you make love with some part of you body in it, but you don't make love in it.

I was just wondering if any of you guys had managed - you have already proven how adventurous you are by owning one and as you say some things have to be done.

To do it Richard, you'd need about four knee caps on each leg!
