I opted for the radio fitting kit, speakers etc but not the factory fitted radio as I wanted to fit something of my own choice and thought I better do something about fitting a radio before the warranty expires, just in case.
So this afternoon I set about installing an Alpine Head Unit and everything looked very straight forward. Behind the blanking plate in the car were two block connectors and the aerial lead that all fitted the radio unit perfectly but no power cable or other connector.
There is a red switched power lead on the radio that just needs to be connected to a 12v power source in the car but I can't trace a suitable lead, I have looked.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whether I am expecting too much for Morgan to have installed a power cable alongside the block connectors, call me picky but for the price of the pre installed kit I had expected it, or if that isn't the case whether I need to make up a power lead myself and find somewhere to connect it to. If the latter any help as to where I can best wire this in would be much appreciated.

Hi Andrew, I fitted a radio in my +4 GDI, all I did was plug the connector block into the back of the radio and away it went, the power wire is in the block connector.
Ian

The red power lead on the radio could be for supplying power for a power aerial?

Andrew, I would be really surprised if they went to the lengths of installing the other connectors and aerial lead and no power supply. Is one of the leads going into the block connector a 12v supply?

Not sure if it helps but the radio feed is on the same circuit as the horn via a 10A fuse.

If you really cant find one I'd run one myself with an inline fuse, the feed ought to be under ignition so you don't inadvertently leave it on.

I'll try and poke about a bit on mine later if it helps.

I thought the power was in the block connectors as well, makes sense. I have checked the fuse, ok sounded the horn, and thats fine. Sounds like I am doing something wrong so will have another crack at it.
Will report back shortly.

Andrew,

when I fitted the Alpine head unit it was, essentially, plug an play. As others have said, the 12v feed is in the connector block that doesn't have the speaker wires.

The additional power feed is for a "direct to battery" feed, as the Alpine unit I have loses its memory if the power is turned off using the main switch on the "computer box". MMC doesn't fit such a feed.

The Alpine unit should also have a power out line, I needed this for the powered DAB/FM splitter. With one of these the standard MMC audio fitting antenna works VERY well as a DAB antenna!

Andrew,
it should be the yellow wire into connector 4 according to Mr Sony . This works on my car.
