In a conversation with Dennis at Morgans West, they have found a company that take the aluminum take-off sprockets, machine them, then coat them with Mylar.
They've been doing this for over four years for motorcycles that use drive belts. These cost about half the price of a steel sprocket and have a lifetime warranty.
Seems like it's worth consideration.
I ordered one for myself. Will take off the stock sprocket soon while it's in good condition. Put the replacement on. Then if there are issues down the road, I've got an original sprocket to use while the aftermarket sprocket is serviced.
Don't have any more details than this.

How much was the new bevel box take off belt drive gear?
How much to coat it, basically the complete price for a new cog with mylar coating?

He is charging (at the moment) $795 for the sprocket, coated, ready to go.
He didn't mention any core charges, etc. Mainly that these are used aluminum sprockets that have been machined and coated.
Important: I really don't know anything more than you. Other than he said they've been doing this for four years and the sprockets have a lifetime warranty. When asked, what would he do for his personal M3W, he said he'd probably go with this one rather than a steel replacement. (Don't know the relative markup for him).

Sound like the right thing to do if your original sprocket needs to be replaced? Replace it with a upgraded unit that could last longer for a few dollars more.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I was just wondering if they were reselling Super Max and the coating is neoprene, not Mylar (which seems to be an odd choice). Hm. If so, probably not such a good deal. That would be a hefty markup. If I see anything that would lead to one conclusion or another, will post.
One minor point of consideration, if Dennis is taking worn sprockets and sending them to SuperMax -- then selling you the complete assembly, there is some value in having the sprocket ready to go, rather than using your own and dealing with down time. How much that's worth would be up to each person.

The Super Max sprockets have a Polyurethane overlay that is pinned and bonded to the machined original alloy sprocket. Several M3W owners on TM have got Super Max sprockets and they seem to work well. It sounds like worn sprockets are getting recycled by the dealer. I doubt that Mylar or Neoprene would be suitable for this application.
