Had a productive time in the garage this morning seeing to the regular tasks after getting the grease gun, paintbrush, AC50 and tub of vaseline ready. Tyre pressure and fluid level checks all ok other than the coolant level which was way below minimum. It took about 1 litre to top it up to between the minimum and maximum marks, total capacity is stated at 10 litres. Water temperature has been perfectly normal and no sign of any coolant leaks anywhere. Will keep a very close watch on this now and hope its just one of those things.

The rads are prone to 'leakage'!! Thats why theres a growing business for replacements!!

Thats my worry and I will get the radiator pressure tested when I have the car serviced next month although the car is less than two years old and only done 12,000 miles so hopefully it hasn't started to fail already. Having said that if its not the radiator the alternative could be worse.

It was the vent hose elbow at the top of the rad, the other common place is the top hose outlet snapping off......plastic rad tanks I am afraid! BR Colin

The plastic tanks tend to fail catastrophically and generally without warning, which is why I keep a couple of my all aluminium replacements/upgrades on the shelf, ready to go at all times.

Does sound like the radiator and something that needs sorting sooner rather than later. It doesn't seem to make much sense to replace it with another plastic tank even though its still under warranty. I will get it pressure tested, I can't see any obvious sign of a leak, and Simon is likely to have one less radiator on the shelf shortly. Anyone had any luck with Morgan making a contribution to replacing the faulty radiator with an aluminium one rather than the standard one ? (Assuming it is faulty)

ROFL....it's hard enough getting MMC to replace the plastic with plastic. I wish you luck but fear your on your own with a replacement cost, it might be a loose hose clip but history says it's the rads that fail, problem is made worse by the outlets cracking if the hose clips are too tight...it's a no win situation and the only permanent fix as many of us have found out is a new aluminium radiator, Mulfab sell them and many dealers have experience of fitting although they are not hard to do as they come straight out the bottom.

I feared that was the case but am trying to be more positive about Morgans after sales service. (Have been disappointed in the past but happy to give them another chance)

If it's under warranty (should be?) I would think MMC will. Ontribute the cost of a plastic one and labour costs as long as it's done by a main dealer.
