I understand on later cars the kit won't work due to the screen pillar design.

If you are going to be removing the wipers on a regular basis, it may be worth investing in something similar to this -

Mixed reviews, but people seem to mostly have problems where the wipers are seized on;there is another , simpler version available too.

It can be really all too easy to mess up the splines on the wiper shat if you get the angle wrong...

Correct John. The later alloy pillar cars but also later cars still with the stainless uprights. It's all down to the angle of the tumblehome of later screens ........post 2008? I know that the kit would not fit my 2010 4/4 Sport.

Stewart....lovely job! You can get nice chrome caps to cover your wiper splines. I'm looking forward to seeing the aeroscreens on....I'm a great fan.
I fitted them them to my 4/4....as John says, take care in placing them. I used penny washers under the alloy scuttle to cut down the risk of stressing the alloy.

top tip thanks, I've just ordered one as i had a 'play' late last night after the posts on here about taking the wipers off and in 5 minutes of struggling, gave up for the night (it was past midnight as was tired)

I think if I were doing this, I would fit a switch into the wiper circuit, it would save having to carry and re-fit the blades when needed.

I have a folding windscreen on our series 1 flat rad one problem we have found which side does the rubber seal go to allow screen to fold ours is inside is that correct? Seems very tight and could detach from Base of windscreen if forced!

That's not a bad idea - could be just a simple switch mounted under the bonnet

Stewart re the puller.. does the wiper arm cap fold back exposing a ring that slides on the wiper splines or is it just a rigid cap that is simply pulled off? If its a pull off cap then the puller has no spindle centre to push against (like a hub puller).
Perhaps it may help grip though?
Just thought on leaving wipers on, are the blades resting on the scuttle paintwork or floating unsupported?
I personally take the wipers off, but mine are removed with a centre screw that tensions an ally wedge on the splines, so there are clearly different systems, the screw type may be available somewhere.

Not quite...

Loosen the screws immediately next to the three spindles.

This screw is attached to a wedge that pulls the wiper up tight on the wheel box splines.

No need to take them all the way out. Just back them out 2-3 turns.

With the screwdriver still in the screw slots, give the screwdriver a tap back down towards the scuttle with the palm of your hand.

This knocks the taper wedge back down and away from the wheel box spline

Angle the arms up 90 degrees against the tensioning springs as previously mentioned

Then the wiper arms can be simply removed

Simon thats if you have screws, stewart clearly has none, fish yes, screws no..
