A snippet of conversation from the Much Marcle meet earlier this week got me thinking. Where are all the older Mogs? When I go to events like TOTH, nearly all the Morgans I see seem to be younger than 10 or so years old. I know that MMC have increased production since the turn of the century, but even so.

Now clearly there must be loads of older cars about the place, Morgans are pretty much infinitely rebuildable, and they tend to be loved and looked after by their owners. As an ownership proposition they are extremely attractive, especially if one is into tuning and modification as you don't have to worry about emissions and stuff.

I hate to think of them all stuffed away in garages, unused and slowly decaying.

Or is it just poor observational skills on my part?

There's a chap coming from Shropshire today to see Emily: if he likes her I might well look at an older Plus Eight.

A very good question Tim, perhaps we will see more now that there is another register within MSCC to cater just for older cars.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

There is one here for a start, I have a 1971 4/4 which I have owned since 1980 and use regularly.

Mine is the red one at Bicester earlier this year

Yes they are Compmotive split rims, when I first had the car it had steel wheels. One of the rears failed during a sprint at Goodwood, the wheel came off the car leaving 4 neat "washers" under the wheel nuts, close inspection of the other wheels revealed hairline cracks in similar positions hence the change of wheels.

There will be hundreds of "older" Mogs at Mog 16 this weekend.

And hundreds of "newer" Mogs too!!

Most MOG events I have attended seem to have a good mix of say 70/80s cars.

Silverstone Classic being a very good very recent example.

My 78 4/4 Crossflow will be at The Little Grandson Air and Car
show Sunday 28th along with about 300+ classics with a good few
Morgans amongst them, apart from some fantastic flying displays.
