Er, what do you call old?
Is 2001 any good, or is it far too Noughties to count?
I was bound by budget but also wanted one that had a galvanised (wooden) chassis and stainless steel bulkhead, as I knew b****r all about living with a Morgan.

Trying to show the flag. My 68 4/4 had 85,000 miles on it when bought early in 2015 and last weekend the speedometer clocked up 90,000. We'll be touring Corsica in it in September.

But your question is a good one and suggests not enough older Mogs are getting out. I'm sure they hate being left in the garage. Morgan owners, caring and sensitive people winky would never drop their old folks at the nursing home and then not visit ooo

I think there are a lot of Morgans spending a lot of time in garages. This seems to be reflected in the low mileages of many cars that come up for sale.
Can anyone find the link to the annual mileage survey in here?
OK not truly representative of total owners but likely to be decent mileages due to enthusiastic owners who drive the cars.

Well, there are very few 'new' ones here in the US.

Cheers,

Lots of old Morgans out here. The breakdown of the cars owned by Pacific Morgan Owners Group, centered in British Columbia, goes like this:
1930s 1
1950s 20
1960s 45
1970s 10
1980s 11
1990s 11
2000s 4
Of course, new Morgans haven't been officially imported since the early '70s

The import issues in some countries , particularly he US, would mean an older average age of cars. The import taxes etc in some countries also limits the numbers of cars, especially new. This will put a bias on the age profile of cars.

My 85 4/4 clicked over its 109,000 miles mark this summer. Which means it's done about 130,000 or so - the original speedo failed at just over 20k miles and was replaced under warranty in late 1986 (thanks to my dad's OCD when it came to invoices and work orders... I have everything from the original correspondence before a deposit was taken, right up to when it came to Canada in 2008. My own filing is not quite so complete, but then again the self-service approach means I haven't actually generated that much paperwork in the last 8 years.)
