I think I read some where on TM that someone had packed thier grease gun for a European tour. What's the consensus gentlemen, surely our steeds are capable of a couple of weeks in Europe covering about 3k miles without attention to the knee joints

I grease mine every 1000 miles on tour.

Yep, I was the one that reported to pack a grease gun on longer trips.

I take a grease gun on tour (wrapped in a plastic bag in the passenger footwell - others have mounted clips under the bonnet).

Mine has a place in my modified wooden tool tray.. But with a remote kit it's easy to give them a couple of pumps on tour.

I wouldn't go 3k miles without greasing.not unless I wanted new kingpins anyway.

Last year I went 3k on hols withour greasing but I knew the KP's needed renewing. This year I shall take the grease gun with me to look after my new KP's.

Now I have a tool tray under the back shelf it's a grease gun on all long trips.

I have a 2005 Plus 4 which has only the lower grease nipple and on a 2000 tour of Scotland greased every other day ( about 3 - 500 miles max).
Recently my 20,000 King pins were dismantled and had very very little wear. So I suppose the answer is" The more you grease the less you wear!"
