based on the vid & pic's you will need more than just Teflon spacer you also need a tiny tube around the screw , and also a cylinder around the lower tube.

If I understand correctly what I am looking at it is actually a remote linkage. Most likely the concept is similar to the remote linkage that sits on top of the Mazda box in the 4 cylinder cars. There is a big difference in the remote built by Vitesse that you can see in the picture below.



The difference is that the Vitesse unit is in an enclosed case, bathed in oil, and uses nylon bushes. All in all tight and well engineered.

I did wonder why the pivot point was resting on the threads the bolts shoulder isn't long enough I will source one with a better fit and function the forked part is sleeved each side but the centre pivot hole isn't almost like an m6 in an m8 hole but probably imperial equivalent.

I may have to consult the drawings from factory to see what should be fitted!

The vitesse unit looks like a much better solution.

This may be a Ford part in totality as the bush at the back has a Ford stamp in it.

True you don't need to change gear much. I find third is the fun one.

I will be very interested to see what the end result looks like. The gearbox on mine is the one thing that would make me change it, when it's really being a pig.

Unfortunately rain has stopped play here today, I was going to take it out for a bit of a run then the heavens opened up big time so I thought it could wait as I can't be bothered to put the roof up

It would be interesting to see what alternative gearbox options there are and how easy it would be to change.

Every so often I wonder how an auto with paddles would be but every time I think of it I decide I just can't see it in a trad. I would be happy with an auto box in an Aero but I would never consider an Aero (or Plus 8) for various reasons.

Wouldn't it be great if Morgan produced something along the lines of an Aero with an affordable 6 (or perhaps even better a turbo 4) putting out 250hp with an auto, paddle shift, traction control and ABS (if you have ABS you might as well have traction control too). I know to some that this is blasphemy but I'm sure there would be a queue to place orders if it could be done at a reasonble price.

Oh! And whilst they are doing the design they could ditch the weird forward opening boot and design an "easy-up" concealable hood (or pinch the design from Mazda/Fiat)
