Having a bit of trouble with my speedo. Reading high and bouncing some. It has been rebuilt so I think the problem is in the cable. Can anyone advise the correct cable routing for an early Plus 4 (61 or thereabouts)? Mine currently leaves the speedo(LHD), goes right along the support bar, then down into the side behind the upholstry, then out again, back under and then across under the seat box to the transmission casing.

That sounds like the standard routing. Check there are no kinks in the cable. The worst bit used to be from under the seat to the gearbox where the outer used to get damaged/worn.

Big sweeping curves are best.
Also worth disconnecting the cable at the back of the speedo and putting a small squirt of 3 in 1 oil (or other light oil) between the cable and outer casing. You'll be amazed at the results.

Sometimes caused by a dry cable, try removing the inner and applying a light coat of very light oil.
