Only use sidescreens with hood.
Not only because I think the car looks better without.
But also because its difficult to use the tonneau cover with sidescreens.
I always put on the tonneau when parked outside over night, or to protect the interior from the sun or rain, and possible bird droppings.

Have you ever tried a storm cover instead?

I remember paking in Milano for two rainy days with tonneau cover with the result of completely wet tonneau. The storm cover does a much better job and is easier to fit. Both systems work with or without side screens.

Hannes a timely question. For myself I prefer no side-screens but with the lovely SWMBO on board for anything but short journeys the side screens will go on.

Last year, on that lively 5 hour drive back from the Ennstal on winding mountain roads, I realised she had suffered somewhat, even though there were no complaints.

So when we are driving around Corsica next week - no shortage of winding roads and steep drops there - the side screens will be on. That will also free up some luggage space. However for 80% of my driving, no screens, even on the Autobahn.

I rarely have either hood or side screens fitted.

I do sometimes have the side screens on in very cold weather, and If I really need to go out in the rain I'll put the hood up. I never deliberately drive in snow so rarely have both on at the same time.

The four-seater with hood up looks better without side screens imho.

+1. Strange but true - the car is quieter (no hood frame rattles) and more comfortable without the side-screens. No buffeting, even at higher speeds. But, funnily enough, put the side-screens on and there is a piercing draft in the passenger foot-well. The car is configured without side-screens all year round. We are both retired so we can pick the fine days, winter or summer.

Question for Ian Wegg. Should the weather look iffy and the hood is up I find it acts as a giant air scoop and can put strain on the hood fixings at the rear sides. How about you?

If it looks like it might rain, I will put the side screens on - only for the speed of being able to be watertight (ish).

Totally agree, having once been caught out in a sudden downpour and got absolutely soaked to the skin, never again!

Nice reminder!

I have just put on the windscreen after 12 years on aeroscreens. What a novel experience ! Add the hood and sidescreens and it is really cosy but very noisy so I'll be going back to the future with the next one.
