I would seriously worry when your passenger pumps it slowly whilst keeping eye contact..

I've been toying with tilting the seat up a bit at the front, too. We'll see how we fare on the 'Trip' and report back.

back pain and particularly while in a Morgan seat can be caused by a number of things so it's difficult to prescribe a solution accurately

However

The vast majority of people with back pain have some issue with their lower back and some sort of a disk problem

I can recommend a book called 'Treat your own back' by Robin McKensie - on Amazon quite cheaply

The problem with Morgan seats I find (like many car seats) is that there isn't enough lumbar support to keep the spine in the double 'S' position to relieve possible lower disk problems

I would recommend a more pronounced and adjustable lumbar support

I have used one of those cheap mesh supports but it rubs the leather so now I use the opportunity of driving the Morgan to do my back extension excersises to firm up the muscles in the lumbar area - ( the excersises are in the book) and this has worked really well

I too have one of McKensie's books. It's saved me hundreds on Chiro fees over the years.

After having spent around £300 on a chirpractor and another £300 on a physio

It was a customer that recommended the book to me about a year ago

So you floundered about for a while and then went back to bass-ics, thank cod. That book has a plaice in anybody's library.

I'm a bit anal about minor wear issues on leather seats . My 2011 car was showing signs of slight scrubbing where a previous owner's backside slid over the side of the seat upon entry to the car, also the drivers seat had sagged a little even though the car had covered only 10k. I decided to swap the seats around together with associated drilling new seat belt stalk mounting points on each seat and also drilling the floor for new mounting position for the seat rails (this is required due to the offset rail mounting position on the seat assembly).
As part of the project I decided to have the drivers seat squab repacked, my local trimmer of 40 years experience did it for £30 and did say the original foam was a bit "lightweight". The result is superb, a nice firm seat and with more squab height gives increased support from the sides. Only problem is that it's so good i'll need to get the other seat done so that it looks as good and matches the comfort of the other seat. By the way I have suplex front end and have just installed bilstein shocks on the rear the latter provided a marked improvement in ride comfort. Oh by the way I also installed wedge the length of the seat rail to provide uplift of about 50mm at the front of the seat for thigh support, I always felt as though I was sliding forward with standard seat lack of for / after inclination.the seats have been secured to the floor/ chassis with 100 x 8mm s/s button socket heads cut to suitable length and nyloc nuts. By the way the seat belt guide mounting bolt on the seat can be installed either side of the seat, the mounting hole is upholstered over where not used.

As with most things Morgan, the seats have improved little with 100 years of development.

The folding mechanism does at least give some adjustability now, but the seats still won't suit many bodies. Aero seats have no adjustably and imho are incredibly uncomfortable. The new (expensive) sports seats are a step forward in the trad cars.

Possibly Morgan buyers have too high an expectation of actually being comfortable nowadays!!

Even modern cheap tin tops have comfortable adjustable seats and anything a bit more 'exec' has infinitely adjustable electric seats.

Morgan seats aren't really long enough to provide support under the back of the legs and theres no lumbar support, the angle of the seat base is too flat and the foam is hard. But apart from that…………………

The Allon White foam upgrade is good. Shaun can even build you a custom seat if required I believe!!
I'm sure the seat base angle could be changed with the addition of a fillet piece under the mounting.

A cheap and easy change can be made by inserting a piece of foam in the space behind the lumbar area at the bottom of the seat back. You can get your fingers in to the space behind the leather/foam and insert a support, in the same way the inflatable bag lumbar support fits, but a minimal cost.

Sadly, part of the car seat problem is probably down to body shape and poor posture in everyday life, exacerbated by 'basic' car seat design.

I've taught Pilates for many years (my wife is a teacher and has a Pilates studio), and postural re-education is the thing that makes a huge difference.
