Robert,
what did they do to your airbox????

The issue is that sometimes there is an annoying sound coming from the air filter box.

The answer from Morgan is to drill a few holes in the plastic cover of the box to allow more airflow and stop the noise

This can be done when servicing the car as the wing as to be taken off

Nevertheless, MMC is developing a new shaped box that will sort this problem and avoid the rather crude solution of drilling

Electronic throttles are usually used to reduce pollution and have a specific way opening the butterflies whcih is less sharp than a normal cable operated system

Not sure Steven what was done to my airbox - suspect it may have been the drilling method mentioned in the above post.

However I need to speak to the service department about the supersports junior when the factory reopens next week and will ask them and update you.

With best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010,

Robert wine

Thanks for that information - very useful.

When I referred to the sharpness of electronic throttles I meant the character of the response generated by pressing the accelerator pedal and wasn't thinking of the mechanics. I have noticed a hesitancy followed by oversharpness in both the S6 and RS6 - whilst you do get used to the 'feel' of the pedal it's not completely natural and seems to be a problem more asociated by large capacity engines. That said it's less notable in our ML63.

Nevertheless interesting to discuss.

Best wishes for 2010,

Robert

that delay annoyed me on saturday,
felt like the V8 was lazy,
on sunday I understood to "work around it"
and the car gave more pleasure
