I regularly grease the beading as the squeak I get if I don't really irritates me...however, think I have been a bit over zealous and now have quite a build up of excess gunge. Don't think it helped as for a while I switched from bike hut grease to vaseline (any excuse...)and now gone back to bike hut. I want to clear it all off and start again any suggestions for the best way to get rid of it?

If you mean wing beading use the edge of a credit card under a microfibre. Some body filler plastic spreaders have a fine edge which is even better. Lubricate with quick detailer, although other liquids will work.

If you mean bonnet tapes, an old rag with white spirit will go a long way. I suspect even WD40 would work.

Thanks Dave, both really but the tape is the main concern.
