We're off for a few days to the New Forest next week, staying in Lyndhurst. Does anyone have any recommendations of pubs nearby where we can get a good meal in the evening?

Lots of options....depends on what you want and how much you want to pay..... This is good: The Lamb has good food in a great setting. Next door is a slightly up-market French resturant if you want to splurge....

The Royal Oak at Fritham was a real locals pub, and hard to find. Never ate there but loved the beer.
The new forest inn just outside lyndhurst was always good, busy but good.
The drift inn on the B3056 was Good The montage arms hotel in Beaulieu The pig, brockenhurst The green dragon, Bradshaw. Westfield club used to meat there once auon a time. The oak inn, Bank....not bad but years since I got thrown out of this one.

No recommendations but I wouldn't mind spending a few days there myself. Lovely area for a relaxing (and/or romantic ) few days.

Alan, I have a hatred of Lyndhurst. It can have horrible traffic & the Roadster wiring failed on the fan leading to over heating.
No strong recommendations from me but the area is lovely.

I could have given you some good tips 30 years ago when I lived in Lymington and frequented those parts.
The Master Builder at Buckler's Hard always used to be a good place for a meal - and Buckler's hard is well worth visiting.

Lots of nice pubs - not so keen on the four quid a pint, flat warm beer.

The Cuckoo at Hamptworth SP5 2DU just down the road from the Lamb and Mirabelles is having a beer festival next weekend. Worthwhile dropping in, especially for a pint of Hop Back Summer Lightening.
