Heading to my fist GWR this Saturday, any advice for a rookie?
I'm aiming to depart home around 6am (it's a 2.5hr drive) and hoping to take the Morgan (weather dependent).

Take an umbrella. It's going to pi$$ it down!!! I'm going to my first revival on Sunday. I've been to Goodwood quite a few times over the years and it's always rained.

Went last year and has surprisingly good weather dispite an iffy forecast but I took an umbrella that doubled as a shooting stick which was just brilliant to sit on watching the racing Although not great if you want to sit and it pours down ! Next time I go I will definately get a stand ticket positioned off the last corner overlooking the chicane as all the really exciting race bits (and there was plenty) seemed to occur there

Make sure to arrive early as queues can be horrendous to get into the car parks. Dress the part and enjoy. Don`t miss the 60s Tesco where you can buy Marathon bars etc.

Now I am even more envious - what a great marketing wheeze by Tesco/Mars. What about re-launching my favourite ever chocolate bar, the Applause? They could call it something more contemporary like a Brexit

Justin,
Having suffered the traffic jams, the delays getting in the car parks and the long queues to actually get in, I would try to leave earlier. When we did the Festival of Speed earlier this year it took us 2 hours to do 4 miles. Have a great time.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

I'm aiming to depart home around 6am (it's a 2.5hr drive) and hoping to take the Morgan (weather dependent). Best advice is to go by motorbike if you can do. We went by car and the last few miles took almost 2 hours to get into the site and parked. Its a long and narrow winding country road. Some people go dressed period if you are into fancy dress. Food is OK. Big site so walking shoes not high heels. Something to sit on even if you have a stand ticket.

I'm aiming to depart home around 6am (it's a 2.5hr drive) and hoping to take the Morgan (weather dependent). Comfortable walking shoes, a shooting stick and an umbrella for Saturday and just soak up the enthusiasm. We normally arrive about 1000 and haven't had any horrendous hold ups. We stopped on for the musical entertainment last year on the Saturday evening and it was really varied and of good quality. Have a great day. p.s. take a big rubbish bag for your mucky shoes et al.
