Because the clue is in the event name "Revival". It's a celebration of the historic & the glamorous, the pizazz & the pomp. If you wish to dressed like a 1970's rally fan it's also good, but join in with the spirit of the event please..!!

I whole heartedly agree with the sentiments here that is why I don't go the Revival as I dislike dressing up and I wouldn't like to spoil the atmos. for those who do.
Instead, I try to go to as many VSCC meets as I can where "The Cars are the Stars"
Here for a good time not a long time!!

It doesn't cost anything only a bit of forethought and time
Last year a good friend borrowed his dad's flat cap, bought a knitted V neck tank top from a charity store for £2.80
put a smartish shirt on with a wool tie, wore a pair of his old chinos and some smart brown shoes which he already had hiding in the back of his wardobe
bobs your uncle - all for less the price of what some scoat would pay for his day glow laces for his Nike trainers!

It really annoyed me and most others when you see someone who hadn't made at least the smallest of effort
Not often that I disagree Stewart, but here I do. People in anoraks and bobble hats kept historic motorsport alive for decades and ensured the survival of the cars for today's Telegraph-reading, tweed-wearing Charles March wannabees to enjoy. Nothing wrong with the explosion in popularity (apart from the queues) but why sneer at the people who love the cars more than the social posturing? but the whole revival event is designed to recreate a Motorsport event from the times gone by Its not the Festival of Speed The organizers specifically ask for everyone to make an effort to create a vintage look by suggesting period dress and the design of everything including the tickets, the stand passes, Tannoy equipment - tents, signage entertainment, everything is to recreate a vintage event The details are meticulous for so some person who cant be bothered and turn up in in hoody, trainers modern baseball cap or an anorak is just very poor if it was my event I would throw them out regardless of how much they've paid thankfully very few do but there are a few and they don't get any respect I went to the first Revival, and thereafter for several years until they became too crowded (and Silverstone Historic upped its game as an alternative). The Revival period dress 'code' back then was for access to the open paddocks - not for the whole event. It seems as if it has moved on somewhat. Not to my taste now. I'm glad I took the opportunity to attend when all were still welcome.

Went today, rain held off and it wasn't too hot. I reckon nearly 90% of attendees were dressed up, sure some people go to extraordinary lengths but you do not have to, lots of chaps don a flat cap and some relatively ordinary clothes, just a bit of imagination can pull an outfit together. The Revival has a unique atmosphere and is not just about the racing.
Went in the tin top today as I went with SWMBO and it was raining when we left and she's not keen on the Mog in the wet. Going back on Sunday with a friend so definitely in the Mog.
