See here. shows the 4 categories for damaged vehicles. D is meant to be the least damaged and repairable but will have a marker on it for insurance purposes. A Cat D often is that it's economically not worth repairing but still generally Ok. I have a friend who buys only Cat D cars as they represent good value, his son in law is on the trade so repairs them for him.

PS - I know a lot about cats... smile

Oh dear 😳 It certainly looks like Sean's car. I spent a lot of time following its progress through build for him. I hope that he's ok.

Very sad indeed. Thats a heavy impact and will require a new chassis plus pretty much every thing in front of the windscreen. The condition of the engine would worry me as it could be expensive unknown.

That's very sad to see, I hope the driver is ok.

Cat D does seem a bit strange, I suppose that given you could put a new chassis on it it's all theoretically rebuildable, and as it's a limited edition there isn't the option of buying a new car, but as others have pointed out, any rebuild is going to cost way more than the car is worth I would think.
