The prior thread about whether the prospective owner would fit in a trad Morgan got me thinking about the best way to get in and out of a trad with the hood up. I have a 95 4/4 LHD and am 6' tall and weigh about 230 lbs. I have only used the car a couple of times with the hood raised, but have had a difficult time getting into and out of the car. I am physically fit and a relatively flexible 49 years of age. I was hoping you could share your experience, tips and tricks about entering and exiting the car with the hood up. All advice is appreciated. John

Well on a RHD('88 4 seater) my technique is left leg in, then reverse backsidefirst on to seat, then swing around bringing head and right leg in. On my car there is a quite a bit of headroom, but then again I'm not 6'.

I prefer the opposite approach --approach car head first place left hand on transmission tunnel at seat back bend left leg and then slide backside in to the seat pull Right leg in afterwards -- I am 5-11 and weigh about 220! I have no problem - Hood up or down.

It's easier when the seat backrest is at least as far back as the "B Post". Some people push the seat right back to get out, then slide it forward once in.

I'm of very much the same view as Robbie except that I put my left hand on the passenger seat ( if it's free!) Then left leg bent and in, sit on driver's seat and swing right leg in. I'm 6'3")

I don't have probem getting IN but OUT can be a bit more problematic sometimes!

I'll agree with the left leg in.. tuck under steering wheel whilst crouching butt into seat then lift right leg in.

I have door bracing bars from the roll cage and immovable bucket seats to contend with as well!!

I also go for Robbie's method of head in first hand on the transmission tunnel then drag the remaining baggage into the seat. I do this hood up or down, my dealership gave me a demonstration and it was an instant hit with me.

Interesting to see so many different entering procedures.

This one works for me (left hand drive): The driver's seat being in the most rear position, I (175 cm / 75 kg) make a fist with my right hand and place it on the driver's seat. Then I enter with the right leg, and place my butt on the seat. Then, I enter the left leg, and pull the seat into it's driving position. Voilà

To get out of the car, I push the seat into it's most rear position, stay seated, step out with the left leg first, then with the right, and stand up with the help of my hand, pushing on the seat.

In both cases, I avoid touching the steering wheel, because I suppose it could be bent when pushed or pulled.
