Robert, It's had great write-ups in the mags that I've read, and it seems the handling is much sharper due to the revised suspension. Re the GT3, it might also be interesting to see you doing the school run in one or Simon en famille with Nanny in one - remember it's your only car! B

Yes Brian I had overlooked that small detail!
That indeed would be a vision.
Also completely forgot that a GT3 has no rear seats!
Will need to stick with the 911 Turbo 997 Gen 2 PDK

Robert

Hi Steven,
That would be the case in mainland Europe.
However in the UK where even the most modest dusting of snow causes absolute mayhem and carnage then 4WD is always a priority for me.

Robert

My thoughts are pretty simular to Simon's a new 911 c4s factory horsepower kit to bump power up to over 400hp,factory short shift kit as tranny must be manual. All wheel drive to cover the bad weather days, reliability, build quality, dealer network...all considerations, but I have no children, rarely are the backseats used...
Some vehicles I am suprised did not show up more, BMW 3 series variants, new Jag xfr or xkr models(I think Jag is a bit of a sleeper company these days) VW golf r32 all wheel drive, Audi q7 TDI 12 cylander diesal...
Alistair, thought long and hard on new Nissan GTR, and while it has a bigger trunk and more storage capacities than the C4S it is not as good from a driving involvement perspective, just brutally fast and efficient...I call it my antiseptic vehicle.
This is a tough question with so many premium choices, but I still end up back in the Porsche C4s, this being my third one now. When I bought my first I answered this question and it somewhat amazes me that many years later if I had to choose one car again, I end back with a C4s,although a much more powerful and refined one than my earlier model some twenty years ago.

regarding the enviable position of being able to choose between a Morgan and a daily driver, as the mood takes: if you were only able to own one car, and it had to serve all purposes, what would it be? Only one car and it must suit you daily requirements. IT took us 45 years to get to Morgan ownership and we love it so no contest However!!!!! The way things are going for us oldies, If we survive long enough, it may need to be something we can also live in, so it may need to be a boat. (after we have been stripped bare by all & sundry financial and governmental who seem to be happily helping themselves to everything and anything, with little or no recourse it seems.) Does that sound like a moan, Simon?

I'm lucky enough to be in a profession where oldness/greyness equals reputation but in moments of despair I always give the example of the Senate of Ancient Rome- the MINIMUM age for a Consul was 43 and they expected to serve for at least 20 years Ymlaen yr henoedd ( rough trans: Oldies rule OK) regards, G
