My heater control valve in the engine compartment of my car has been replaced, but I'm still unable to turn the heat down from full (and hence the air on won't kick in) Has anyone replaced the control unit behind the dash that the control knob turns? It seems quite a small unit and must surely be a commercially available part (its the square white plastic part at the top of the enclosed picture I took when I had the dash backing off) I'm sure if I could get it off and identified, I'd be able to find it in the RS catalogue. Thanks Simon
I've had the same issue with my S3. After a lot of research I've found the manufacturer in the US and am just about to order one. It's $177 including DHL but not clear about whether any further import duties will need to be paid. They have 'em in stock and can get them over in a few days. The part is Electronic Heater Control Valve 354-69494 from Thermotion. I've been emailing a helpful chap called Chris Swanson (sales@thermotion.com). The price of the part is a little under $100. Last price quoted by Morgan was a lot more! But I don't know what it is right now. Shame about the dollar rate!!!
I bet I could order 2 and save a good deal on the delivery and then send one onto you. Happily split the total bill with you plus whatever delivery to get the part to you in UK. Should sabe us some Wonga. Brands Hatch Mogs removed the old part for me and I have it at home. Looks like a little grand piano and doesn't take long to fit...
Thanks but that's the part I've already bought! It's the dash control I'm after. Ordered my part from thermotion in the US on Thursday afternoon, delivered on Monday! Simon
You may find that Borderlinx are less expensive way to use DHL - my typical small package cost is $10-$15.
Borderlinx give you a USA address, so the seller only charges domestic postage. If you're buying more than one thing from the USA, they can be rewrapped together to save on DHL charges.
Borderlinx will also pay import charges - the do err on the side of caution, so if the part is no brand new then make sure the packaging makes that clear - it'll save 20% vat being levied.
