Looked to be nothing wrong with those cars.

At that speed it will take them a life time to dismantle!

The comments reckon they were prototypes/test cars which couldn't be used, no doubt there must've been a good reason for crushing what appeared to be perfectly good motors.

According to the comments on the video they were new cars retrieved from a flooded ferry and had to be destroyed due to water damage.

Ever heard of donating them to trade schools around the world that cry out for training cars......we used to donate about 250 pre production and production try out cars with every model launch. They were disabled so they could not be send on the road and any school receiving one were assured it they ever tried to circumnavigate the agreement to never put any part on the road they would not get another and would be invoiced for the full retail price. Never heard of anyone cheating the system, not all who asked would get one either.

Like Colins suggestion above
Ford have allways been very good with the fire service I work at in donating the cars that have to be destroyed (ie. pre production models) for us to train with and cut up. If not we tend to only use old cars at breakers to practice on so new cars are more realistic to what is on the road.

I remember for my training cutting up an unregistered new ford focus RS!

They did appear to take parts off the cars during the pre-crush prep.
Light clusters, rads, some panels(bumpers).
If they were from water submersion damage then probably a belt and braces safety move to prevent future issues?
Mind you, how did they dispose of the bits taken off?
Surely sold as second hand not recycled to new car production?
wink
There were signs of light rusting in some areas. Engine mounts, exhaust clamps etc.

Just had a thought.......
was the ferry crossing the Mersey?
There are quite a lot of car "dismantling and recycling" establishments in Liverpool....allegedly!
