ALso when running just the 1/2 tonneau cover, glue a peice of felt behind the zipper where it beats against the rear of the cockpit, so you do not scratch your brand new car!

it's worth gluing a patch of leather to each of the stud holes on the tonneau - this stops scratching around the fitting posts thumbs

Great to hear you're making the most of driving it. drive

I've made a skid plate for my 2012. I made a template of the curve of the body rear and then used 1/8" aluminum plate and made one piece and then made the other. The problem was that the body rear extends about i/8" below the ash frame. The second piece was made to extend past the body to the rear to protect it. I then countersunk four brass wood screws into the ash. I've already had one experience with the skid plate and when the car went over the edge it made quite a "bang". I checked later and all was still intact not loosened and no damage to the body. I was a bit nervous about making four holes into the ash, but everything seems OK. It was a fairly simple project--on a 1-5 level I'd give it a 2

You need to do that at EVERY fitting on there as well.

I haven't used mine yet. Doing an overnighter this week on Skyline Drive... I'll use it when parked at night
